Ryan Bowie

Ryan Bowie was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After completing his Sociology degree at the University of Pittsburgh in 1999, Ryan moved to England where he trained as a Buddhist monk for 8 years in the Theravada tradition at Chithurst Monastery.

He learned the Buteyko method from Christopher Drake in 2006 as a complimentary practice to his meditation. In 2008, upon leaving the monastic life, Ryan began to train under Christopher’s auspices as an Associate Buteyko Practitioner and became a member of LearnButeyko.com. He has conducted several workshops with Christopher in the UK and Holland and taught individual students suffering from various illnesses, including asthma, allergies, COPD, insomnia, and panic disorders in the UK, Europe, and America.

In 2009 Ryan moved to Northern California and started LearnButeykoUSA.com, the American branch of the LearnButeyko.com community, which serves to promote and organize Christopher’s work in the US. Given his background in the monasticism, Ryan has a special interest in teaching the method to those interested in enhancing their meditation and yoga practices.
